Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated October 21, 2026
People scan QR codes on trust. To keep that trust, codes made with FernQR must not lead anywhere harmful. This policy is part of our Terms.
Not allowed
- Phishing, fake login pages, or anything that tries to collect passwords, payment or personal details under false pretenses.
- Malware, unwanted software, or links that start downloads people did not expect.
- Scams, fraud, fake giveaways, or impersonating a business, brand or person.
- Illegal content or goods, or content that sexualizes minors.
- Harassment, threats, or content that promotes violence or hatred.
- Content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy.
- Spam, including codes in unsolicited bulk messages.
- Changing a code’s destination to something different from what the printed material promises, in a way meant to mislead.
- Hiding or chaining other short links to avoid detection.
- Getting around plan limits or rate limits, creating accounts in bulk, or attacking or overloading the service.
What we do
We screen links when they are saved and review every report. We may switch off a code or suspend an account that breaks this policy, without notice, and serious or repeated breaches close the account without refund. A switched-off code shows a short notice instead of redirecting. Where the law requires it, or to protect people, we may share information with law enforcement.
Report a code
Seen a code that breaks these rules? Report it here. If you think we switched off your code by mistake, emailhello@fernqr.com.
